Mise-en-scene Practice

Mise-en-scene have 4 component which include costume, lighting, setting and staging

The setting is in one of the 5 entrance of the Opera House station in downtown Ho Chi Minh city. The station have been famous for the entract that has a very similar layout to a famous horror and discovery game called Exit 8. Not only creating a sense of nostalgic but also decoding a mysterious and familiarity in the same time.

Costume used in this picture is a Vietnamese Ao Dai in dark blue. Dark blue is not a well-known color when it comes to Ao Dai, however this create a fusion between core tradition values and modern eras. A feeling of nostalgic yet still familiar with young generation.

The image use a combination of natural lighting as well as low-key lighting to create a sense darkness in the surround but the main characters. Not only make the character the main focal point of the image but also highlighting it.

Lastly which is the staging, the character here are tilting to the right side while looking for some thing in the left which is where the lighting come from as well. This somewhat has create a sense of enigma code to questioning the audience. What's the boy looking at?!
